Family Club:
The College firmly believes that
every family matters and every
family has strengths that they can share with others.
The focus of the College in 2008 is to engage families in the
education of their children. College Council is currently
establishing the Family Club and staff at various peer group
levels are working at getting families together.
Many families do not have the opportunity to discuss issues
concerning the development of their children and they operate in
isolation. The concept of the Family Club is to provide a
forum for families to meet. For instance, the first
gathering of Year 8 Families will take the form of a "pie night"
and student work will be on display. Students will be
invited to talk about the work that they are doing at school and
together with families celebrate their achievement. A
nucleus of families have volunteered to bring others
along. Our aim is to get 100% of families to join the
Family Club. Peer groups may well adopt a project that
binds them together. What a fantastic celebration it will
be when the Year 8 Family Club celebrate the achievement
together at the various milestones along the journey with their
children. Research clearly shows that close knit groups
achieve at significantly higher levels.
